June 9, 2008

Present: Kathy Hammer, Pastor Gary, Jeff Hage, Carrie Voightman, Skip Alfson

Absent: Paul Lekang

Meeting was called to order at 7:10 pm. Pastor read a daily devotion and led us in prayer.

HEATING SYSTEM CAMPAIGN: Jeff reported that pledges to date are around $60,000 which pays for the current system repairs, asbestos removal but is not enough for the dual fuel system as hoped for. Property board is discussing the idea of taking a mortgage for the dual fuel system or not installing.

BUDGET: Jeff reported that our committee needs to start working on the 209 budget. Jeff to conduct job evaluation with financial secretary. He suggested that our committee draft a written job description of the financial secretary as the by-laws description is vague.

FALL CAMPAIGN: A "Thanks You" meal will be the kickoff for the giving year of 2009 and should tie into the "Vision 2008" suggested areas of growth. The tentative dates are Sunday October 12 and Wednesday the 15th. Theme was also discussed around Proverbs 11:28. No specific decision made. Timetable discussed. Beacon article to be submitted for August.

KICKOFF MEAL: The kickoff meal will be served on 2 separate dates. Possibly Sunday October 12 and Wednesday Oct 15 evenings. The event would include a short presentation of the "Vision" inviting members in attendance to fill out the pledge cards. We would also have some entertainment. Deadline for pledges is October 26th.

Presentation and mailings would review the 5 specific ideas from the "vision meetings".

STEWARDHIP EMPHASIS: The monthly "Stewardship Emphasis" to begin in Sept. 08. The themes for 9 in ’09 to be decided at the next meeting. Jeff will do some checking with the planning council for any ideas or feedback. September emphasis is Synod Endowment. Jeff asked for someone to coordinate the monthly stewardship emphasis. Carrie agreed to do so. Either the 2nd or 4th Sunday of the month will be the Sunday to emphasize the theme of that month.

BEFORE NEXT MEETING: The committee was asked to draft the post card and letter for the fall campaign meal and bring ideas to next meeting. Also the 9 themes for "9 in ‘09" will be determined at the next meeting.
